November 21, 2014 Webinar: Migrating Applications to the Cloud: Assessing Performance and Response Time Requirements

Assessing applications and workloads for readiness for migration to the cloud allows organizations to determine which applications and data can -- or cannot -- be readily moved, and which delivery models (public, private, or hybrid) can be supported. It is common for an application being migrated to the cloud to have connections of various kinds. Typically, the more connections discovered or required, the less suitable the application is for migration. You must understand and address the impact of these connections on performance.

This webinar discusses the new CSCC whitepaper, Migrating Applications to the Cloud: Assessing Performance and Response Time Requirements, including a discussion of best practices and steps to perform.

October 22, 2014 Webinar: OASIS TOSCA: Enabling Application Portability in the Cloud

The Topology and Orchestration Specification for Cloud Applications (TOSCA) is a new open standard created with the active participation of leading technology vendors, cloud service providers, and customers that enables businesses to capture and automate their cloud-based applications. TOSCA applications capture the knowledge of experts in reusable application components, component relationships and dependencies, policies, and a wide range of requirements that could be automatically matched to corresponding cloud service provider capabilities. This approach offers true cloud application portability and semi-automatic management across cloud providers regardless of underlying platform or infrastructure; thus expanding customer choice, improving reliability, and reducing cost and time-to-value. In this webinar, Matt Rutkowski, Co-chair of the TOSCA Interoperability Subcommittee, gives the CSCC and update on TOSCA.

February 20, 2014 Webinar: Social Business in the Cloud: Achieving Measurable Business Results

As social technologies have evolved, they have increased in adoption across a wide spectrum of businesses, industries, and geographies. Some organizations, usually with strong business and IT alignment, are realizing that social technologies initiated for one business activity can spark innovative uses in other areas. This insight creates motivation to widen the reach and adoption of these investments. Unfortunately, this is not always the case; many organizations are still struggling with how to justify the business impact of social technology, which has become a key inhibitor to adoption. Further exacerbating the challenge is the perceived complexity of combining social technologies with investments in adjacent technologies like cloud, big data, and mobile computing. This presentation introduces five principles as a guide to succeeding with social business technologies.

Webinar: Migrating Applications to Public Cloud Services: Roadmap to Success

The CSCC recently published a new whitepaper that provides a roadmap for successfully migrating applications to the cloud. Please join the authors of the paper who will provide an overview of the paper and answer questions in a Q&A session. Across all industries, momentum is building to migrate applications to cloud computing. However, the migration of applications to cloud computing must be done in a strategic and methodical manner. Existing enterprise applications must be thoroughly assessed to determine which workloads can benefit most from early migration to the cloud. Key considerations including costs of migration, application redesign, application performance and availability, security and privacy requirements, and regulatory requirements must be taken into account.
